Ah yes, the first new post of the so-called millenium. Happy new year to you all. I have been soaking up vacation's glory, and thus the lack of posts. Well, no new stuff tonight, just saying hello.

And yeah, this site won the Totalwar.org contest for best content. I won't say too much... needless to say I am very thrilled to have won. Congrats to Kyudo and Towashima for winning the other two major categories; they have some killer sites. Good work all!

Abayo,
Lord Saburo

There are two sites entered for insertion into the webring, but we need three more in order for the ring to work properly! Be sure, if you wish your site to be a part of the ring, to have placed on your site the HTML fragment. The precise directions are found on this page.

Ah yes, I have also posted a new article on Tactics and Political Strategies today.

Reminder: today is the last day before the website contest ends. Good luck to all involved! I had a great time.

Until later,
Lord Toyotomi Saburo

At long last! The Total War Web Ring is finally operational, and it's right here! The basics of the ring are available now, and there will probably be a few updates in the future, such as a new logo. Please, help this webring flourish so that the Shogun community can be further bound together and so our sites can all get more attention on the Net. Keep in mind that the webring will not feature Shogun sites until 5 other pages have joined!

That's it for now, I'll proabably post up more stuff tomorrow or Sunday. Remember, the Web Site contest ends on Monday. Good luck to all involved- there have been many fine competitors. May the kami ...and the judges... smile upon all you fellow webmasters!

A quick spot of great news- Shogun: Total War is now in Alpha Stage! This means the game is playable straight through with the majority of its features operational. Congratulations, everyone at the Creative Assembly, Dreamtime, and EA!

Huzzah! Today is a day of many updates, just like I had promised you all. the most important addition is the matchmaking bulletin board on our Clan Events page (not that kind of matchmaking!). I'm talking about a place to find online gaming opponents within Clan Toyotomi who enjoy the same games- AOK, Gettysburg, Myth, et. al. There is a form to send me the info you want posted... quick and convenient. Thanks to Jeremy Longsword for the great idea!

There are some other things of note:
-One new
Political Strategies article
-Another entry on
Battlefield Tactics
-Links to
Movie Downloads
-A few
Sound Files to download

Still not as much new information as I'd like, but it's still a good bit. Still lots more to come here at Osaka Castle!

Until Then,
Saburo

Alright, so the history didn't get posted as I had hoped, but life is what happens when you make other plans. And, we're not gonna leave any time soon. There is a cool article at Gamespot UK that really goes over what we can expect in the game, but really doesn't shout out any new revelations. Gotta check it out, though, if not just for the new screenshots! Hafta love those Brits- they're making the game, after all.

I am sure looking forward to great real-time battles with grand formations of samurai flying across the Japanese highlands... but for now, we have to settle for Age of Kings, Gettysburg, or, yes, Myth. If you're interested in playing AOK on the MSN Zone, my login name is Byzntn_Templar.
And didja know that way back when, like summer '98, there was going to be a Myth total conversion called Daimyo, where I imagine the gameplay would be very similar to our beloved but delayed Shogun. In some ways, I am dissapointed that it didn't ever come through, but I suppose that it would have only been a stopgap for what looks to be a much greater enterprise.

So, no uber-updates today, but I think that this week/weekend could yield some good stuff on this here site. If only that durned counter was working! Until then...

So at long last I update the site! I have a few things to mention:
-Two new fansites have made their appearance,
Crandall's Total War Site and Total-Shogun. Consequently, I have put up the S:TW Resources page to display the non-clan site links on.
-Jeremy Longsword is our latest addition to the clan. Welcome!
-As you can see, there is a distinct shortage of old news on this page. For the sake of a quick load time, the most ancient text on this page has been commited to the
Archives.

And so tomorrow shall see the addition of some Toyotomi history to the site, plus perhaps a few other surprises. It is a long time until the game, but in the meantime, Big Fun's Ronin is a cool diversion. As a daimyo charged with restoring the peace to a war-torn 'alternate' Japan, you hire different types of soldiers to your cause and gain the allegience of some interesting heroes. It's Java, it's free, and it's overlooked. Go check it out!

Until tomorrow,
Lord Saburo

Not much happening today, but I would like to make an online plug for one of our Toyotomi compatriots, Lord Samu. He's got a cool site, Totalwar Place with a forum that would love to get some posts. Help support your comrade!

Again, here's the link: TotalwarPlace.

And my TaeKwonDo instructor, and a great teacher/physist to boot told me a quote from his sensei that I thought was kinda cool:

"Do not aspire to be so heavenly so that you aren't any damn good on earth"

Dr. Youstra

Just a thought!

Today we welcome one more Toyotomi clansmen: Toranaga Yoshi.

Not much else to talk about today, but I would like to organize a big gathering of people in the Shogun community in our chatroom, or somewhere. I think we should get together as a think tank and come up with some cool ideas for how things should be organized for online play. Whatcha all think of that? Wanna help me organize? Let me know!

Lord Saburo

So here I am, after so long in (regrettably) neglecting this site. Sorry about the server troubles, they've been put out to pasture and we shan't see them again... I hope.

Anyhow, our Forum has been aflame with the debate over what is the "true Shogun trainer". Want a piece of the action? Go to the ORG's Sword Dojo to voice your opinions on the subject, and for that matter, any topic you want. Personally, I feel there is no substitute for the real thing... just, overall, be a strategist who can work out any situation; why limit ourselves to a mere game?

Well, enough of my sermon. You can read the rest at the Sword Dojo. I'd like to give a belated welcome to Clan Takeda! They are taking conscriptions even though thier site is not online yet. And, I must give props to Clan Kyudo on their magnificent site overhaul. Gorgeous, guys, truly! Puts me to shame, eh?

I have put a bunch of cool links up for you guys to peruse through, as well as a political strategy article and a little bit of tactics.

And uh, by the way Gandalf, AOK does most certainly not SUCK. Ahem.

Until the next time,
Abayo

Well, here's the weekend... and most of you probably know of the unfortunate news. Sigh... the demo has been removed from its tentative October release and pushed back to the first week of January. Ouch. And if that didn't sound bad enough, the game itself will be released two weeks after.

Expecting more this update? Sorry, I really am. Honestly, time has not been on my side lately. I'm tired. Maybe I can squeeze some in tomorrow.

Until then, Abayo

With the recent addition of Nagora Kirizo to the Toyotomi Koseki, we now have 17 warriors under our banner of blue and white. Welcome!

I am sorry if the addition of new material is scarce this week, but my life has and will be a speeding freight train of other obligations (namely schoolwork...). I promise to have some new Tactics and Politcal Strategies up by this weekend, and if I am lucky, a bit 'o history too. I owe it to you all to make up for this lost time!

Until Later (how much later, I wonder...)
Lord Saburo

October 22nd, 1999
Check out the nifty batch of screens that I finally got around to posting! They are nice to ogle, until the demo makes its appearance.

Also, I have put up another small article on tactics, referring to the battle of Cannae. Not Japanese, but an epic and historically crucial encounter nonetheless. And no, there aren't any new Politcal Strategies, but that never stopped you guys from sending them in! Please, I urge you to contribute if you have any knowledge you'd like to share.

Until Tomorrow,
Lord Saburo

October 21st, 1999
The recent addition of Kuroki to our clan brings the Hatamoto Count to 16! Huzzah!

I am regretful that I don't have the time today to add anything new to the site, but tomorrow I promise to make up for this lapse tomorrow. Expect new tactics, new political strategies, and a handful of awesome new screenshots! Maybe I'll throw in some history and a download or two. You wouldn't want to miss out on that, would you?

Sayonara,
Lord Saburo

Clan Toyotomi is honored to have another bushi in its presence: Lu Bu is the clan's 15th member. Welcome, Lu Bu!

Also, I have added another one of my philosphical musings to the Tactics page, this time about Leadership.

Abayo,
Lord Saburo

October 19th, 1999
Check out the updated Politcal Strategy page for a new article on the topic.

Someday soon, I will put up the incredible screenshots I have acquired recently. In high-resolution, they are astounding! Most of them have not been seen or released to the public, so be prepared for some pleasant surprises.

One more thing: if any other clan Daimyo are reading this, please email me the description of your clan that you would like to accompany its link on the Clans page, if you would like one. It's a free chance at advertising, and a plug to boot, so why not?

Today the Political Units chart is online, so go ahead and check it out. In addition, we have got our first article in Tactics, the beginning of what I hope to be a veritable sourcebook of combat knowledge. Got some clever tricks or trusty rules you'd like to share? Send them to me, and they'll get posted so the whole Web will bask in the splendor of your tactical prowess!

Don't forget, the Message Boards are free for all to share their thoughts. I encourage you to use them often!

That's all for now, folks. Abayo! ---Lord Saburo

Konnichiwa, everyone!

You are now looking at the 3rd incarnation of Clan Toyotomi's website. We're renovating to bring you a better, faster Osaka Castle with more cool stuff to wade through. Right now, this site is under heavy reconstruction and will be updated constantly to fill in the many sections that are as of yet not complete. What does work?

+We have a few screenshots up, both in the Battlefield and FMV categories. It's only a fraction of what will be online later!

+All of the listings for tactical units are available under "Unit Overview", but the Political Units are not yet finished.

+The Osaka Teahouse (chatroom) and Message Boards are up now, feel free to use them!

+The Clan Koseki and Enlistment pages are pretty much finished, except for a little polishing.

+There are rudimentary links to each of the other Clans.

We hope you find the new look appealing. Please check back often, as we are just getting back on our feet. Good luck to all of the other webmasters in the contest!

Toyotomi Saburo, Daimyo
